Services

Here are some of North Kincumber Physiotherapy’s services:

+Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
This includes spinal (lower and upper back, neck pains) and headaches, ankle, foot, thigh and knee pains and injuries along with shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries. As everyone is different and every injury is unique, we use AxIT, a state of the art assessment system that identifies baselines, tracks progressions over time to ensure you are doing the correct exercise and treatment as well as measuring imbalances between muscles and sides. This will allow you to achieve your goals in a timely manner and knowing you are improving.
+Sporting Injuries Acute & Chronic
This includes all areas of the body from muscle tears, strains to ligament injuries, rehabilitation post shoulder or patella dislocation and ankle sprains or fractures in general.
+Orthopaedic Conditions: pre and post surgery
We will provide you with appropriate rehabilitation (this includes exercise prescription, advice and treatment) before and after you get surgery. There are many different protocols depending on what surgery you will be getting/ or have had. Please let us know what surgery has been done when booking in. This will enable us to get started in advance.
Some examples include: post ACL repair, Total knee or hip replacements, arthroscopies to knees, elbows, shoulders or ankles along with rehab post fractures.
+Dizziness and Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Severe and acute vertigo can be caused by a variety of things including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, which is characterized by sudden and severe vertigo when the head is moved. It is linked to disruption in function of the inner ear. Other causes may include cervicogenic dysfunction or labyrinthitis.
+Vestibular Rehabilitation and Concussion Management
Vesibular Rehabilitation is a specialized form of physiotherapy used to treat vestibular disorders or symptoms, characterized by dizziness, vertigo and trouble with balance, posture, and vision. These primary symptoms can result in secondary symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, and lack of concentration amongst different. All symptoms of vestibular dysfunction can significantly decrease quality of life, introducing mental-emotional issues such as anxiety and depression, and greatly impair an individual, causing them to become more sedentary.
+Spinal Pain or dysfunctions (Lower back, thoracic spine & neck)
We are trained to assess & treat the cause of pain, stiffness or dysfunction. This usually means we need to assess the whole spine and look at contributing factors. Once we have identified the source of the problem, treatment is targeted to address all multifactorial aspects as required. We can send you for an x-ray if this is deemed necessary.
+Pre-season and seasonal sport screenings
In order to allow social or representative athletes to prevent injury as best as possible, sport screenings have been put in place to allow weakness or other problems to be pointed out.

This allows the client to improve their movement pattern, strengthen the deficient muscle or muscle group or improve joint proprioception or stability, rather then waiting for pain to arise along with other problems which could slow your performance or stop you playing sport all together.

+Work Cover Injuries and Third Party
We offer treatment to these clients. You will need a referral from a GP or Specialist before commencing treatment.
+Pregnancy
We deal with problems encountered by the mother during and after pregnancy. This includes complaints such as back, pelvic, groin pain as well as neck discomfort or tingling symptoms. Once the baby is born, we deal with improving your core strength, decreasing things like separated stomach muscles by simple strategies or even dealing with mastitis.
+Kinesio Taping
Natacha is a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner. Kinesio Tape has been used on a big scale since the Beijing Olympics or at least it has been noticed by a lot more people and athletes since then.
It combines the use of an elastic tape that is the leader in its field with an education that quite simply has no equal. Natacha’s training has been done through Kinesio Taping Australia. It is this combination of the best tape and the best education that provides the best results.
+Fascial Manipulation
It is a manual therapy method that has been developed by Luigi Stecco, an Italian physiotherapist. This method has evolved over the last 40 years through study and practice in the treatment of a vast caseload of musculoskeletal problems.
It focuses on the fascia, in particular the deep muscular fascia, including the epimysium and the retinacula and considers that the myofascial system is a three-dimensional continuum. This method presents a complete biomechanical model that assists in deciphering the role of fascia in musculoskeletal disorders.

The mainstay of this manual method lies in the identification of a specific, localised area of the fascia in connection with a specific limited movement. Once a limited or painful movement is identified, then a specific point on the fascia is implicated and, through the appropriate manipulation of this precise part of the fascia, movement can be restored.

Fascia is formed by undulated collagen fibres and elastic fibres arranged in distinct layers, and within each layer the fibres are aligned in a different direction.

+Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation (VM) was developed by world-renowned French Osteopath and Physical Therapist Jean-Pierre Barral. Comparative studies found Visceral Manipulation beneficial for various disorders such as:

  • musculoskeletal (sciatica, chronic spinal pain, post surgical scar tissue, somatic visceral, headaches and migraines, carpal tunnel syndrome etc)
  • women’s and men’s health (chronic pelvic pain, bladder incontinence, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis amongst other things)
  • acute injuries (whiplashes, seatbelt injuries, chest or abdominal sports injuries etc)
  • digestive disorders (reflux, bloating, constipation, GERD)

Treatment is gentle and specific due to the delicate and often highly reactive nature of the visceral tissues. Furthermore, Visceral Manipulation works only to assist the forces already at work.

If you would like to know more, please book in to see our trained visceral manipulation physiotherapist, Natacha Flohr.

+Headaches
Our goal is to figure out what the cause of the headache is, then proceeding as appropriate to treatment and management strategies. This will allow improved outcomes in a timely manner.
+Synthetic Casting
We offer waterproof and non-waterproof synthetic casting. A referral from a GP is required when booking in for a synthetic cast.
